Dr Sergio arrives as the weekly flight finally experiences no delays.
After two weeks of delays with the weekly flight out of St. Helena, this weekend went ahead as planned with the scheduled flight arriving just before 1pm on Saturday, and departing St. Helena Airport just before 2 p.m.
The flight not only brought passengers but also brought in a consignment of eggs some of which were damaged while others were on sale from Saturday evening.
Among the arriving passengers on the weekend’s flight was former Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Sergio Villatoro Bran, who was ordered by Chief Justice Rupert Jones on 25 July to be present in St Helena on 22 September 2023 for sentencing before the St Helena Supreme Court.
Dr Sergio pleaded guilty to five counts of unlawful wounding in one indictment.
The sentencing will be heard in the Supreme Court this coming Friday at 10 am and the case will be open to the public.
Also having arrived on the Island is a team from Hugh James to speak to those residents on-island with potential clinical negligence claims against SHG and Dr Sergio. The team are in the process of meeting with potential claimants to talk about their cases in person.
SAMS will report on the outcome of Friday’s sentencing of Dr Sergio.
